The active ingredient in Kybella is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells, and once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin, revealing an improved chin profile.
Your injector will work with you to create a personized treatment plan based on your chin profile. Most patient’s see visible results after 2 to 3 treatments spaced at least one month apart.
Common side effects include injection site discomfort, bruising, redness, swelling, and numbness in the treatment area. Your injector will go over these possibilities as well as others and answer any questions you may have prior to treatment.
